形式為空間形體，樣式為形體上的圖樣。圖紋相對是平面且非空間性的，而本研究則欲探索圖樣裡空間的可能性。以伊斯蘭的幾何紋樣作為研究對象，以發掘圖紋生成的操作方法及圖紋形塑空間的機會，並依此做各種創作。

本研究主要討論分為四個部份：
紋樣分析 研究伊斯蘭幾何圖紋設計的方法。
紋樣生成 利用其方法創作不同之圖樣本體。
紋樣詮釋 對各種圖樣母體以不同的色彩、不同的「圖解」進行衍異
設計應用 以不同空間層級，器皿、家具、隔間、建築，進行設計演練

Form is the spatial volume; pattern is the texture on the form, which is generally considered flat.
This study however intends to explore the possibility of creating spatial form out of plane patterns. Choosing Islamic patterns as benchmark object, a series of investigations are conducted to unveil the art of pattern making, by which variety of new patterns are systematically produced and new opportunities of innovative designs become accessible.

The thesis consists of four parts:

Pattern Analysis: Using procedural operations to discover the techniques of Islamic pattern making.
Pattern development: Employing the techniques to create various pattern matrixes.
Pattern Interpretations: Adopting different colors and sub-shapes to interpret each pattern matrix.
Design Implementations: Apply the method to the design of various levels of object such as textiles, furniture, partition elements and buildings.
