評估遙測影像的品質是非常重要的,因為無論影像品質的好壞,皆須付出相同的代價去購買。有許多的方法能夠客觀的描述影像的品質,例如在航測上行之有年之MTF。因此本研究即對許多參考指標,如灰值變方、熵、邊緣線總數、邊緣線平均長度、邊緣像元平均強度、邊緣線平均強度、雜訊比、低頻頻譜最大值以及低頻功率百分比等之參考指標作特性分析及實驗,並另外提出一個新方法來評估遙測影像之空間品質(spatial quality)。這個方法是以點散函數(point spread function,PSF)可用來評估影像品質之概念為基礎。但並不直接計算PSF參數而僅簡單的計算影像中包含之邊緣線的平均長度及平均強度做為分辨影像空間品質高低的指標,這個方法較為簡便且易於實行。
Evaluating the quality of remotely sensed imagery is very important. No matter an image is of good or bad quality, users still have to pay the same price. There are many methods which can be used to make objective evaluation of image quality. For example, MTF has been always used in photogrammetry for evaluating image quality. In this paper, we examined some indices, like variance, entropy…etc for their suitability to assess the spatial quality of images. We also developed a new method for evaluating the spatial quality of remotely sensed images. Based on the signal processing theory, our method is similar to the approach of estimating the Point Spread Function but strongly simplified in computation. By calculating only the average length and average strength of edges contained in the images, ranking in spatial quality between images can be relatively determined.
