Brain-based neuropsychological therapy has gained prominence in the field of psychological treatment; however, its application in work-related domain remains limited. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the effectiveness of the "Employees Brain-Mind Coaching Course" training intervention, which grounded in neuropsychotherapy strategies, to maintain psychological wellbeing in the general healthy population of Taiwan's workplaces. The intervention includes a three-hour webinar course and four weeks of assigned homework, offering participants neuroscience-based education of stress reactions, executive functions, and Positive Psychotherapy Interventions, accompanied by supervised home work practices.
Participants were randomly allocated to either the intervention group (n=17) or the waitlist group (n=23). Outcome measures, including physical and mental health, wellbeing, executive function, and job satisfaction, were assessed at baseline and post-intervention. For the intervention group, the post-intervention assessment took place after four weeks of completing the homework intervention, while the waitlist group underwent a four-week waiting period before their post-intervention assessment.
The findings of this study revealed that employees who completed the coaching course demonstrated a decrease in physical and mental health symptoms, an increase in wellbeing, improved executive function, and enhanced job satisfaction compared to the waitlist group who had not yet participated in the intervention. Moreover, significant improvements were observed in the entire sample (n=40) comprising individuals who underwent the coaching course. These results highlight the potential of applying Positive Neuropsychology Theory in work-stress interventions to enhance the mental health of employees, leading to increased wellbeing, reduced psychological issues, improved executive functions, and accelerated job satisfaction.
