在城市發展的歷史脈絡中，文化事件一直與城市的公共空間建構息息相關，它不只形塑我們的公共生活，繼而影響了城市中的公共空間形貌；檢視文化事件在城市中扮演的角色，我們可以說它是插曲、是突發、是計劃裡的特殊項目，同時也是作為人感知城市的一個介面，主宰城市當下與當下以後的發展；為了要克服時間與環境的條件限制，城市中的空間形式應該是要能乘載許多無法預期的機能。

都市中的公共空間其實充滿許多不同面向的討論，站在公共領域的立場作為論文的出發點，本文提出一個由文化事件切入的觀點，試著在已知的案例與文獻中辯證文化事件與形塑公共空間之間的關係，並用設計勾勒出觀點的形貌，選擇相對於臺北的奇觀投射──「北投溫泉」作為設計操作的對象，透過文化事件的介入，書寫一可持續的空間文本，最終目的是為重塑北投溫泉的公共空間。

In the historical context of urban development, cultural events have been closely related to the construction of public space. Cultural events not only form our public life but impact on the city’s public architecture. To review the role of cultural events playing in cities, we can call it an episode, a sudden, a special item in planning or an interface of human perceiving the place. It dominates the present and the future of urban evolution. However, in order to overcome the restrictions of cultural events’ longevity and site conditions, the spatial forms ought to support lots unpredictable functions.

The issue of public space in cities has been discussed with many different aspects. From the position of public domain, this thesis proposes a view-point of cultural events and attempts to dialect between the cultural events and the shaping of public space via the known cases and literature. Additionally, this project concretizes the thoughts by means of architectural design. It takes the spectacle projection of Taipei city – Beitou hot spring as design place, tries to write the sustainable text of space with the approach of cultural events and, lastly, aims to remodel the public space of Beitou hot spring.
