本研究的主要目的在以區位選擇的角度探討台商過去對大陸各省投資額與投資區位選擇之決定性因素。以2001 年∼2008年 赴大陸投資的台商為研究對象。
更具體而言，本研究主要有以下主題：建立台商赴大陸投資決定性因素實證模型：以台商每年赴大陸各省之核准投資額為應變數，並將大陸地區分為20 個省分或地區，採取2001~2008 年間此20個省分或地區之總體經濟變數做為區位特性之自變數，以panel data 利用迴歸分析探討台商赴大陸各省投資區位之決定性因素。
經過實證分析結果顯示，1. 生產因素中，勞工工資對於台商選擇投資區位無影響，顯示薪資成本高低不再是廠商考量的主要因素。2. 市場因素中，平均所得（GDP）、消費水準越高，經濟能力越高，廠商將更願意投資該地點。3. 聚集因素中，台商赴大陸各省投資與外人直接投資總額呈現正相關，證明台商投資傾向有群聚現象。4. 基礎建設中，公路和鐵路的密集度，增加生產與市場的連結，大大減少了企業的運輸成本，提高國家生產力，是台商選擇投資區位重要因素。5.不同的年代，受到各種不同事件及當時環境的影響，明顯影響台商赴大陸投資。6.台商選擇投資地點位於大陸沿海地區不顯著，顯示台商投資地點漸往大陸中西部發展。

The major purpose of this study is to investigate the location choice determinants of Taiwanese enterprises’ investment in Mainland China. This study emphasis on the macroeconomics advantages of individual provinces among China and period is from 2001 to 2008.
More specifically, this study utilizes the regression method to establish empirical models. In the macroeconomics factor model, we find that：
1. Factors of production：Labor wage is not significant on selecting location to Taiwanese enterprise.
2. Factors of market：The higher GDP and consumer price level in each province, the higher economic ability to buy goods, so Taiwanese enterprises have more willing to invest the places.
3. Factors of cluster：The direct investment of Taiwanese enterprises in each province has positive effect with total foreign direct investment. It proves that Taiwanese enterprises have clustered effect.
4. Factors of Infrastructure：The more density of road and rail increases the linking between the place of production and the market. So investing the places will save transportation cost.
5. Because Taiwanese enterprises receive different events and environment influences in different years, which affects the investment amount of Taiwanese enterprises obviously.
6. Coast of mainland china is not an important determinant, indicating Taiwanese enterprises invest western sites gradually.
