This study aims to explore the impact of various combinations of personality traits on individuals’ occupational risk preferences in Taiwan. Utilizing data from the 2020 Panel Study of Family Dynamics and adopting Big Five personality indicators, individuals were classified into three groups based on Latent Class Analysis and composite Likert scores. Ordered Probit and Generalized Linear Models with a Gamma distribution were further employed to assess individuals’ occupational risk tendencies. The results indicate that individuals with fewer positive traits, such as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness, and higher levels of neuroticism are more likely to engage in high-risk occupations. These associations remain robust after controlling for demographic and socioeconomic variables. The findings highlight the explanatory power of personality trait profiles and offer valuable implications for career counseling and labor market risk management.
