In recent years, due to technological innovation and people pursue a convenient life, many companies are committed to the Internet of Things, which has changed the development of industries and the business model of enterprises. This has changed the way companies create value, from the linear value chain to the platform economics. The concept of value co-creation and ecosystem is gradually being adopted by companies.
However, the Industrial Internet of Things is facing the challenge of fragmentation, which makes it more difficult to connect and integrate their equipment and systems. Moreover, most companies don't have enough ability and resources. Therefore, Advantech launched the WISE-PaaS industrial IoT cloud platform, hoping to help achieve the goal of Smart industry. In addition, due to the fragmentation of the Internet of Things, broad application fields and profound industrial knowledge, co-creation is the best choice. This research aims to explore how Advantech builds the WISE-PaaS industrial IoT cloud platform ecosystem through the view of value co-creation.
The contribution of this research is to propose the construction process of the industrial Internet of Things platform ecosystem. The platform builders propose value propositions for the pain points of the industry, actively recruit participants to join, and expand the scale of the platform. Through the platform technology architecture, participants can exchange and integrate resources and ability. In the process, the participation rights, collaboration methods, value distribution are also managed through the arrangement of mechanisms, so that all participants can collaborate collectively to create experience value. Co-evolve into an interdependent and continuous platform ecosystem.
