This study attempts to investigate the impact of knowledge creation and information technology on members of new product teams and product performance. Previous research has studied new product strategies and interdepartmental integration. However, most of previous studies failed to consider the effect of interactions of team members upon new product success. This study therefore involves knowledge creation, information technology, and interaction of product team members, which have been rarely researched in previous NPD studies, and tries to examine the relationships between one another. And furthermore all factors combined decide whether they have an impact on new product development performance. The study built up its research framework and obtained its variables by literature review and then proposed seven hypotheses, following analyzing the relationships between variables. 400 questionnaires were issued and 84 were effective out of 111 retured with 18.67% returning rate. Research methods such as canonical correlation analysis, ANOVA were conducted.
The study concludes: 1.The application of information technology has a positive impact on knowledge creation. 2.The application of information technology has a positive impact on interaction of product team members. 3.Interaction of product team members has a positive impact on knowledge creation. 4.Organizational culture has a positive impact on interaction of product team members. 5.Organizational structure has a positive impact on interaction of product team members. 6.Knowledge creation has a positive impact on product development performance. 7.Interaction of product team members has a positive impact on product development performance.
