The purpose of this study is to develop a scale suitable for measuring compassion satisfaction among professional helpers, aiming to enhance understanding of the psychological well-being of professional helpers and assist them in identifying their own positive strengths. In the first phase of this study, data was collected through questionnaires from 65 professional helpers in Taiwan to explore their perspectives on compassion satisfaction. Conceptual analysis was conducted and identified 8 sub-constructs of compassion satisfaction, which were then used to formulate scale items. In the second phase, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were conducted using a pilot sample of 230 participants, and a three-factor structure of compassion satisfaction was presented. In the third phase, the main sample of 472 participants was randomly divided into two groups of 236 each. The first group underwent item selection and model modification, and the second group was used to validate the factor structure of compassion satisfaction. The result shows that the final version of the Compassion Satisfaction Scale comprises three factors: "Positive Beliefs," "Active Engagement," and "Self-Care," totaling 20 items. This study also found that compassion satisfaction among professional helpers in Taiwan is positively correlated with age, higher in males compared to females, lower in nurses compared to mental health caregivers and educators, higher in those with a master’s degree compared to those with a bachelor's degree, and higher in those with more than 10 years of working experience compared to those with 3 to 5 years of experience.
