台灣LED產業的創新活動,尚停留在降低成本目的上的製程改善;雖然就整體、廣泛的層次而言,企業的創新活動不論採取攻勢或守勢,都是為了在產業內創造一個足以禦敵的地位,並使公司獲得優異的投資報酬。但是,隨著台灣社會的進步與發展,LED產業高漲的生產成本卻沒有相對應的產出價值,其原因極有可能是LED產業有限的資源,沒有投注在正確的創新目標與策略上。
本研究以Michael E. Porter(1980)競爭策略理論、五力分析的模式,與創新雷達活動的12項檢視系統及S W O T產業分析,加以評量台灣LED產業相對於主要競爭者的競爭地位強弱。並以質性研究方法「個案研究」探討在台灣的五個LED產業個案,在於實際競爭的情況之下,五個台灣LED產業所採用不同的價值創新策略,對企業競爭力之間所產生不同的影響。台灣LED產業的優勢和弱勢,越來越依賴上下游合作聯盟的運作,因而Porter五力分析模型及S W O T產業分析,也可包括垂直策略聯盟和其他產業投資併購的評估。
本研究經過深度訪談,並以Porter五力分析模型及創新雷達圖,評量台灣LED產業價值創新與創新策略及企業競爭力之間的關係,研究結果綜合如下:
(1) .台灣LED產業價值創新領域窄且採差異化策略,配合組織學習能力,具有較佳 的企業競爭力。
(2).台灣LED產業價值創新領域窄且採低成本策略,配合研發技術能力,具有較佳 的企業競爭力。
(3).台灣LED產業價值創新領域廣且採全球化佈局策略,配合組織管理能力,具有較佳的企業競爭力。
The main thrust of innovation in the LED industry in Taiwan is still a focus on lowering manufacturing costs. Regardless of whether firms are offensive or defensive in their approach to innovation, their aim is to develop a competitive advantage designed to improve their position within the business environment. Economic development in Taiwan has inevitably led to an increase in the cost of production, and the LED industry is no longer able to match its previous output value due to limited available resources and inappropriate innovation strategies and objectives.

The strengths and weaknesses of the Taiwanese LED industry depend on a strategic alliance between upper and lower streams of the industry. Therefore, Porter’s five forces and SWOT analysis were employed to evaluate the vertical coordination as well as investment and acquisition of other industries.
We conducted in-depth interviews, using items drawn from Porter’s five forces and the innovation radar chart. The relationship between the value of innovation and innovation strategy and its influence on competitive advantage in the Taiwanese LED industry are as follows:
1. Adopting a narrow area of value innovation, differential strategies, and organizational learning affords the Taiwanese LED industry a favorable competitive advantage.
2. Adopting a narrow area of value innovation, cost leadership, and research and development capabilities affords the Taiwanese LED industry a favorable competitive advantage.
3. Adopting an expanded area of value innovation, global deployment strategies, and administrative capacity affords the Taiwanese LED industry a favorable competitive advantage.
