In the international community, the number of overseas students is on the rise, and countries are trying to recruit overseas students in order to absorb more talent. In recent years, Taiwan has also launched different policies and scholarships to attract overseas students to choose Taiwan as their destination of study. In recent years, the number of Hong Kong students in Taiwan is the fourth highest among the number of foreign students in 2021 in Taiwan. On the contrary, the daily travel habits of local and Taiwanese are dominated by private transportation. The daily travel of Hong Kong people mainly relies on public transportation. Therefore, this study discusses how to adapt to Taiwan's local transportation culture from the perspective of Hong Kong students and its correlation with cultural adaptation. By using acculturation theory as the main theoretical basis and coupled with the grounded theory and the coding paradigm to generalize a conclusion from facts, the interview content is summarized to analyze the process of traffic assimilation of Hong Kong students in terms of acculturation and to explore the factors of Hong Kong students switching transport and their degree of adaptation in traffic assimilation. The related research process can also provide reference for other future studies on acculturation.
