網路協議電視IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)已經成為新一代網路(Next Generation Network,NGN)中最具潛力的應用,主要由於其具有隨時隨地都能發送電視節目的特性。隨著 IEEE 802.16d/e的規格制訂,它具有高頻寬及低延遲的能力,因此適合作為發送多媒體串流的服務。此外它也提供訊號高涵蓋率、行動性支援以及非視線功能。在此篇論文中,我們利用IEEE 802.16d/e 提供發送 IPTV 串流的媒介,並提出一個簡單但卻有效的 IPTV 頻道切換演算法以維持頻道切換的時間在一個可容許的範圍內。我們提出的演算法根據熱門頻道及個人化頻道的預載,以減少因為網路傳輸所造成的延遲,達到我們快速切換頻道的目的。最後,實驗的結果將顯示我們所提演算法的效能。
The Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) are becoming one of the most promising applications over next generation networks because it can deliver TV programs anytime anywhere. With the recent released of IEEE 802.16d/e, it is capable of ensuring high bandwidths and low latencies, is suitable for delivering multimedia services. In addition, it also provides wide area coverage, mobility support, and non-line-of-sight operation. In this paper, we deliver IPTV streaming over 802.16 wireless systems and propose a simple but effective IPTV channel switching algorithm to keep the channel zapping time in the tolerable range. The proposed algorithm based on Hot-View channel and personal favorite channel preloading to reduce the network delay and achieve the goal of fast channel switching. Finally, the experimental results show the performance of the proposed algorithm.
