The rapid development of science and changes in fashion trends enable firms to quickly introduce new products to the market, causing many products to be discarded before they reach the end of their useful life. An inappropriate product recycle process may result in secondary contamination, and used parts with residual values may not be reused. Therefore, governments and firms have begun to pay attention to the environmental and economic benefits brought by the recycling and remanufacturing of products due to environmental awareness and the scarcity of raw materials. This study investigates the pricing and recycling strategies with consideration of the recyclers’ competition behaviors and customer preferences, and considers a manufacturer, who sells products to the retailer and outsources the remanufacturing activities to the retailer and the third party. The manufacturer's product pricing and recycling strategies are obtained through the game model with the aims of maximizing its profits, and a contract mechanism is added to coordinate supply chain members, so that all three parties can obtain maximum benefits. The results show that the contract model can achieve the highest recycling quantity and increase environmental benefits and profits. For retailers, they can devote themselves to decreasing their recycling costs and enhancing the service levels to reduce customer preferences and obtain higher profits. For the third party, if customer preferences are high enough, then continuous improvement on service level will not have a significant impact on the recycling volume and profit. Manufacturers can respond to changes in customer preferences and make price decisions by comparing the recycling costs of the two recyclers.
