Nowadays, there are more and more wireless products in the market conditions, like the laptop and PDA. When these mobile devices move from one domain to another, users expect that they can still send/receive data continuously. At this present moment, the handoff mechanism must be triggered right away. Mobile IP registration and SIP Re-INVITE method can help the online call to re-establish its session. Mobile IP uses the home address and the care-of address of the mobile user to accomplish the registration scheme; however, SIP depends on a new IP address from DHCP mechanism to complete the Re-INVITE procedure. Because there are several problems for these two approaches, some experts have proposed an integrated model using Mobile IP and SIP so as to enhance the performance. We also offer a new solution to combine the integrated architecture of Mobile IP and SIP, and employ this multi-layered mobility solutions to rebuild the calling session during handoff. Due to all performance evaluations for any model, our proposed approach not only owns better performance than Mobile IP and SIP but also surpasses the combined model of Mobile IP and SIP. So, it can be entirely practicable to the seamless mobility.
