More and more people live apart from their raised home after they grow up. Therefore, family social connection is needed and important for them. Under this social background, how people communicate with their intimate social in home environment is an important issue. In this study, we will introduce a novel awareness system HyperWindow for separate intimate socials to create a feeling of living together. A mechanism for mutual users to control their privacy level in the manner of open/close window was developed. From bringing out concept to robust prototype implementation, we held a laboratory study and tested HyperWindow with our target subjects. The result shows that HyperWindow is success in creating a feeling of living together and people are willing to accept HyperWindow in the future.
