7-ELEVEN has been running its convenience store business since 1978. In the past 30-year effort, their goal is to meet consumers’ minds and bring more convenient life. With 7-ELEVEN franchise chain masters’ developing plan, there is over 4800 stores in Taiwan this year. People who join the chain can get not only lower investment cost; but also lower operational risk. From 7-ELEVEN’s view, choosing the suitable franchise chain master before the cooperation is very important.
A number of studies proved the important relation between personality and job performance. Results stated the true score correlations varied by occupational group and criterion type (Mount & Barrick, 1998). Furthermore, based on the Deng, Yun-Lin’s research, the self-directed learning model is not only best solution for the adult education but also revealed a positive relationship with job performance. (Paul & Donald,1992) (Yu,1998)。
The study uses the theories found in reference and takes the statistical analysis from 330 franchises of 7-ELEVEN chain stores in the districts of Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan. Using sixty items of big-five personality dimensions that we found the significant in agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and extraversion with their job performance, and using fifty-two items of self-directed learning model (SDLRS) that we found the significant in initiative learning, independent learning, efficient learning, learning motivation and creative learning with their job performance.
Due to high significant between big-five model and SDLRS with masters’ job performance, we suggest 7-ELEVEN can use these two models to choose suitable new franchise chain masters.
