「夔紋」或稱「雙Ｆ紋」，是出現在嶺南一帶幾何形印紋陶上的紋飾。雖然學者對於確切的年代各有說法，但大抵上夔紋陶出現的年代上限為西周早期（1,000 BC），年代下限為戰國晚期（400 BC）。本計畫的研究目的在於探討這個特殊的陶器裝飾的演變究竟是年代學上紋飾風格的變遷，抑或是具有社會功能意義。本研究採用類型學分析夔紋在時間與空間上的變化過程，再從相關的理論來討論與分析紋飾變化的意義？由於夔紋陶主要分佈在廣東地區，本研究會將空間範圍限縮在廣東東部地區，時間上會將整個夔紋陶文化類型納入討論。

The " Kuiwen," or "double F" motif is a decoration pattern that was applied on Stamped pottery in the region of Lingnan. Although scholars have different opinions of their datting results, the Kuiwen pottery is generally dated to the early Western Zhou period (1,000 BC) and the late Warring States period (400 BC). The purpose of this project is to investigate whether the evolution of this particular pottery decoration is a chronological change in style or it has social functions. A typological analysis of the temporal and spatial evolution of the Kuiwen motif is used to discuss and interpret the meanings of decoration change from theoretical perspectives. Due to the core region of the material, the research will confine the spatial scope to the Eastern Guangdong province and cover the entire Kuiwen cultural period.
