The objective of this research was to examine the effect of innovative climate on organizational performance in the container shipping industry. Data collected from 139 respondents who working in the container shipping companies. A factor analysis and structural equation model were employed. Results indicated that innovative climate can be identified into three dimensions, namely, company policy, supervisor support, and employee attitude. This research found that company policy and employee attitude had a positive influence on organizational performance, whereas company policy positively associated with supervisor support. In addition, this study found that supervisor support had a positive influence on employee attitude. However, the effect of supervisor support on organizational performance was not supported in this study. This implies that employee attitude plays a mediating role between supervisor support and organizational performance. Managerial implications from the research findings on improving organizational innovative climate were discussed.
