本論文主要是研究摻雜偶氮染料之液晶薄膜在雙光子光柵引致之光折變效應。所謂雙光子效應有兩個機制:綠光透過光同分異構化trans→cis並產生電荷載子,紅光的干涉場則會藉反向cis→trans光同分異構化並抑制電荷載子的產生。由實驗的結果我們可以很清楚的了解,光折變效應主要是由雙光子效應及外加直流電場同時存在所引致的液晶週期性排列,進而形成光柵,且此雙光子光柵具有開關的特性。在此雙光子光柵所引致的光折變效應,也觀察到具有雙光束耦合現象。值得一提的是這實驗是世界上我們實驗室第一個完成的,具高度的學術價值。
This work reports a photorefractive (PR) effect generated by a biphotonic grating (BG), in the presence of an applied dc voltage, based on an azo-dye-doped liquid crystal (ADDLC) film. Switching on (off) one green light ,the PR grating can be turned on (off) under the irradiation of an interference field created by two linearly-polarized red lights.Experimental results show that such a PR effect is primarily ascribed to a biphotonic process which involves with two mechanisms: the green lightinducs space charges production through the trans→cis isomerization and the red light prohibits effect of the space charges formation induced through the cis→trans back isomerization in, respectively, the dark and bright fringes of the red interference field.A spatially inhomogeneous space charge field is subsequently produced to modulate the orientation of LCs, which leads to the occurrence of the PR effect in the presence of a dc voltage. Two-beam coupling of the red lights is also observable in this experiment.Notably,we are the first group to report such a biphotonic PR effect in the world .The result is thus , useful for scientific community.
