文化景觀是台灣於2005年新修定之《文化資產保存法》新增列的資產類別，闡述人類與其所在的自然環境交互運作下的長期演變結果，且從中反映出當地居民面對自然環境提供的優勢與限制下之思考與智慧。文化景觀涵括的範圍可包含古蹟、歷史建築、聚落、考古遺址、自然環境等，而這些資產必須為人與自然在特定區域作用下的產物，並能夠反映出兩者間的關係。

本研究整理國際上與國內對文化景觀的定義，提出自然的條件、人類的活動、時間的轉變、具體的元素做為文化景觀必備的要素，且這四項形塑出區域的獨特，而這幾項特點能幫助建立文化景觀的觀念與判別。而文化景觀所涉及的層面廣泛且複雜，本文試圖建立文化景觀的調查與評估流程，以釐清區域作為文化景觀的潛力。研究主題以礦業文化景觀作為探討方向，輔以世界遺產案例說明，並以金瓜石與水湳洞作為主要探討的區域。

金瓜石與水湳洞地區是以金銅礦生產作為整體區域之產業，持續將近一百年的光景，而在景觀中留下許多工業遺跡，且現存的實質元素顯示出昔日採礦活動與特殊自然環境間的演變結果。以礦業文化景觀的角度詮釋金瓜石與水湳洞地區，利用景觀的基礎調查、景觀的分析、判斷是否為文化景觀、文化景觀價值評估之流程判斷其作為文化景觀的潛力。目前在金瓜石與水湳洞景觀中的礦業資產雖有所損壞，但其具備之完整性、真實性、歷史價值、科學價值使此地區仍具有作為文化景觀的潛力。

Cultural landscape revised new property category of “Cultural Property Preservation Law” in 2005, manifests the evolutional result of interaction between humankind and its natural environment over time, and it also indicates the local residents’ thinking and wisdom when they are confronting the advantage and the limit of the natural environment conditions. The subjects of cultural landscape include the monuments, historical buildings, settlements, archaeological sites, natural environment etc., but these properties should be the development of interaction in human natural environment under specific region.

This research focuses on the digest of definition of the international and domestic cultural landscape, and the proposes of the natural condition, humanity's activity, the time transformation, the concrete elements as the cultural landscape essential elements, which these four items shape the region unique and it’s characteristics can build up the idea of the cultural landscape and distinction. Due to the perspective of cultural landscape’s influence is extensive and complicated, this article attempts to establish the investigation of the cultural landscape and assessment procedure, in order to distinguish the region as potential cultural landscape. The main subject of research is about the mining cultural landscape as the probe into the aspect, complement and proof with supporting of world heritage cases to investigate the Chinguashin and Shuinantung region.

Chinguashin and Shuinantung region produced the gold and copper mine continuously for nearly 100 years while many industrial traces remained in the landscape which demonstrate the evolution between the activity of mining and special natural environment in the past. From the perspective of mining cultural landscape to interpret Chinguashin and Shuinantung region and utilize the procedure of landscape basic investigation, the landscape analysis, the region as the cultural landscape analysis, the cultural landscape evaluation values to judge them as potential cultural landscape. Although the properties of Chinguashin and Shuinantung mining industry have gone into ruin, its integrity, authenticity, historical value, scientific value still enable this region to have potentiality as the cultural landscape.
