Humor in the workplace has received increasing attention in the practical areas in the recent years. Leaders are concerned about how to properly use workplace humor, and thus draw the members closer and build trust between supervisors and employees. Trust will help improve the working relationship quality and enhance the organizational effectiveness. Also, trust will result in making employees more willing to contribute to the company and show more organizational citizenship behaviors. Besides, trust will make employees more embed themselves in the organizations. These are the great benefits of proper using of humor. Therefore, this study will study the relevance of workplace humor, trust, organizational citizenship behavior, and organizational job embeddedness.

496 valid questionnaires were statistically analyzed. The results of the study show that supervisor humor is positively related to employee’s trust in supervisor, and trust in supervisor is positively related to employee’s in-role behavior, generalized compliance behavior, organizational fit and organizational sacrifice. Besides, colleague humor is positively related to employee’s trust in colleagues, and trust in colleagues is positively related to employee’s altruism behavior, organizational links, organizational fit and organizational sacrifice.

Supervisor humor has a positive and indirect influence on employee’s in-role behavior, generalized compliance behavior, organizational fit and organizational sacrifice through employee’s trust in supervisor. Colleague humor has a positive and indirect influence on employee’s altruism behavior, organizational links, organizational fit and organizational sacrifice through employee’s trust in colleagues.
