Sleep is crucial for developing children, as good sleep contributes to their physical and mental health, cognitive development, and academic achievements. Recent studies have shown the close relationship between the use of 3C (computers, communications, and consumer electronics) products and sleep quality. Adequate sleep duration and high-quality sleep help enhance children's attention, memory, and emotional regulation abilities. It is important to further explore the relationship between children's growth and development, overall health status, and the use of 3C products. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among sleep behaviors, sleep quality, the use of 3C products, and Body Mass Index (BMI) in elementary school children. Methods: Elementary school children from the Tainan area were selected as subjects (N=134). Research tools included a simple sleep diary, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire, and the Child Welfare League Foundation's 3C Life Behavior Questionnaire. These tools were used to explore the relationship between sleep behaviors, lifestyle behaviors, and children's BMI. Statistical Analysis: Pearson’s correlation and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the correlations. Results: The study found that children using multiple types of electronic devices (3C products) had significantly lower sleep disturbance scores compared to those using only one type. Children who used 3C products for 4-5 hours on holidays had significantly higher BMI than those using them for other durations, while those using them for 2-3 hours and 3-4 hours had significantly more night awakenings. Additionally, children using 3C products before bed were significantly taller than those who did not. Children from close family relationships had higher height and weight compared to those from distant or unaffected family relationships, while children from distant family relationships showed more severe sleep disturbances. Conclusion: The results of the current study support the negative impact of parasomnia on children's sleep quality and the effect of prolonged use of 3C products on sleep onset latency during holidays. Future research should focus on the potential impact of 3C product usage on other health indicators for further clarifying the effects of 3C product usage on children's health.
