本文以1980年代至今的移台港人為主要研究對象，旨在探討從1980-2000年前、2000-2019 年前及2019 年至今三個時期的移台港人他們的身分認同。首先在探討三個時期的移台港人之身分認同前要先引出各個時期台灣政府對於港人移台的法規從而來看法規之流變。接著就是看各個時期的港人移台的狀況，包括移民方式以及與香港的緊密程度等。及後便是闡述每個時期港台兩地的政治、經濟概況以及每個時期的一些特殊情況，如2000-2019年前香港的社會問題、2019年至今香港的教育問題等。看畢每一時期的狀況後，利用專訪受訪者以及問卷調查的結果並結合「利己主義」、「鏡子效應」、「殖民遺緒」等理論架構作為骨幹，帶出三個時期的移台港人其移民動機與「在台香港人」身分認同上的時期特色。在三個時期都各自闡述後，最後將三個時期的移台港人置於同一標準下作比較，看不同時期的移台港人其利己主義的特性、殖民遺緒下的香港認同還有最終身分認同——「在台香港人」的異同比較，帶出時代背景、環境趨勢結合個人經歷帶來的身分認同論述，向世人揭示移台港人這個族群多年的處境以及身分認同的變與不變。

This study examines Hong Kong immigrants in Taiwan from the 1980s to the present, exploring their identity formation across three distinct periods: 1980–2000, 2000–2019, and post-2019. The research first outlines the evolution of Taiwan’s regulatory policies regarding Hong Kong immigration to establish the legal framework for each period. It then analyzes migration trends characteristic of these periods, highlighting immigration pathways and the changing degrees of transnational ties with Hong Kong. Additionally, it examines the political and economic contexts of both regions, paying particular attention to developments such as Hong Kong’s social unrest between 2000 and 2019 and growing concerns surrounding education after 2019. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study integrates qualitative insights from in-depth interviews with quantitative data derived from questionnaires. A conceptual framework based on Egoism, the Mirror Effect, and Colonial Legacy is employed to analyze migration motivations and the distinctive traits of the identities adopted by Hong Kong migrants in Taiwan during each period. The research concludes with a comparative analysis of migrants across these three phases, identifying both shifts and continuities in their ego-centric tendencies, their colonial-influenced Hong Kong identity, and their evolving sense of self as “Hong Kong people in Taiwan.” By combining historical analysis and societal trends with personal accounts, this study offers a nuanced discussion of identity formation. It reveals both the evolving narratives and the persistent factors shaping the socio-political roles and self-perceived identities of Hong Kong immigrants in Taiwan over time.
