現今,隨著多元社會背景的變化,家庭組成及聯繫情感的方式也與以往傳統觀念漸漸不同了,小家庭普遍成為常態,而遠距的生活模式可視為每個家庭一生中會面臨的重要挑戰之一,同時,規律的運動習慣也逐漸被重視於家人間維持身體及心理互動的方式,在一起運動的經驗(如: 爬山、飯後走路) ,又或是,運動結合遊戲的經驗(如: Wii Sports) ,皆能讓彼此享受在一起的感覺,我們發現在共同活動中設立一個目標能夠促進家人間正向的社交關係,即使遠距,合作模式和個人對於團體的認同感增強了社交互動的可能性。
在本研究,我們設計了一個運動和社交的APP – StepsTogether,以小團體為單位共同合作來完成共同目標。目標是進行完善的計步實驗,同時增強小組成員之間的聯繫。為了實現這一目標,APP具有幾個獨特的功能。主畫面的動畫顯示了每位使用者的即時運動狀態,以卡通人物圖案掉落方式呈現動態步行的行為;捐贈功能允許使用者自我要求成為支持對方的角色;合作週曆記錄了使用者的團隊收穫成果,而留言牆則使達標的使用者可以留言來激勵其他合作夥伴。以上功能旨在激發合作關係並增強成員間運動動力。
第一作者進行了自傳體設計研究,以探索其與實驗室夥伴和家人一起使用的設計可能性和使用者經驗。量及質性數據皆在我們的研究中收集。結果分析和歸納出了一些令人鼓舞的事實,我們將探討包括在一個小型虛擬社會形成的團體意識,通過訊息共享中相互理解,自尊與捐贈行為之間的依存關係以及隱私性的問題,以作為未來探討其相關人際互動研究領域的基礎貢獻,並提供自傳體設計的反思經驗和設計過程作為日後相關領域研究的重要參考。
Nowadays, with the changes in the diversified social contexts, the composition of families and the way to connect relatedness are gradually different from the traditional concept in the past. Small families are becoming the norm. The long-distance lifestyle can be seen as one of the most critical challenges that every family will face in their lifetime. At the same time, regular exercise habits are increasingly being emphasized to maintain physical and psychological interactions between families. The experience of exercising together (e.g., hiking, walking after dinner) or the experience of sports combined with games (e.g., Wii Sports) can make each other enjoy the feeling of being together. We found that setting a goal in joint activities fostered positive social relationships among family members, even at a distance, and that collaborative patterns and individual identity for the group enhanced the possibilities of social interactions.
StepsTogether is an exercise and social APP setting up a joint goal for a small group to achieve together. The goal is to perform enough step exercises and, in the meantime, enhance the relatedness of the group members. To this goal, the APP includes several unique features. The stimulating animation presents the active status of each user. The donating function allows users to promote her/himself as a supporter; the joint calendar records users’ team performance, and the message wall at the terminal point allows those who accomplish their goal to leave messages to inspire other partners. All these features are designed to stimulate cooperation and enhance motivation. The first author conducted autobiographical design research to explore the design possibility and the experience of their usage with both his colleagues and family. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected in our study. The result shows several inspiring facts, including group togetherness within a small virtual community, mutual understanding through information awareness, the dialectical tension between self-esteem and donation, and privacy. Also, we expect to provide the reflective experience and design process of autobiographical design as an important reference for future research in related fields.
