Following the rising of elderly population, the related requirements of caring the elders would increase in the future. To improve the quality of life and provide aids for elders, in this research we propose an elder-friendly web application that involves of clock, calendar, event reminder, photo slideshow, and video-chat. Video-chat could help the elders have a deeper communication and interaction with their family, especially grandchildren. It not only prevents elders from being social isolated, but also benefits physical and mental health. Further, in cooperation of video-chat and photo slideshow, nurses could carry the reminiscence therapy to elders out easier.
Owing to elders would not be used to using the mouse and keyboard, the main functions in this application are designed to update and play automatically. And considering the aging impairments such as declines of vision and memorization, the design of this application follow the robust guidelines of elder-friendly concept to conform with elders’ requirements.
