十六世紀畫家葛列柯（El Greco, 1541-1614）繪製許多基督教的祭壇畫，在過去的研究中常著重畫家的生平敘述，以繪畫風格將他歸類在矯飾主義畫家或巴洛克畫家，將其作品單純視為其對宗教信仰熱忱的表現，並沒有任何著作有系統地分析其繪畫中的人神關係。本論文以葛列柯祭壇畫中呈現天堂與人間兩個空間的畫作為例，從三個面向著手探究葛列柯畫作中所傳達的人神關係，並將之引申探討畫作中人神關係所呈現的宇宙世界觀。首先交代畫家的生平與其時代背景，以陳述克里特島的生長環境以及義大利、西班牙的交遊情況對其繪畫風格的養成和宗教思想的構成；再來探析基督教圖像傳統與特倫特宗教會議對其畫面表現的影響；最後分析畫面結構歸納出畫家蘊藏在宗教畫作中的內在思維。從研究中發現葛列柯祭壇畫中的人神關係是一種類似合作的關係，他藉著強調人類的良善行為來凸顯宗教對人心的教化。

Sixteenth-century painter El Greco (1541-1614) painted numerous altarpiece works about Christian themes, most of the studies about him focused on his biography, viewed him as a Mannerism or Baroque painter, and considered his works which were simply reflected his passion of religion. There is no systematic arrangement regarding to the relationship of humanity and God. This thesis focus on El Greco’s altarpieces which present two different space of heaven and earth by three directions to discover the relationship of humanity and God; furthermore, to extend in meaning of the world view. First, the life in Crete, Italy and Spain formed the style of his works and cultivate his faith. Second, expend on the influences from the tradition of Catholic Art images and Council of Trent. Final, by analyzing the composition of the works to summarize Greco’s inner thinking. This thesis concludes that the relationship between humanity and God of Greco is similar to cooperation, by stressing the goodness of the behaviors of human to manifest the enlightenment of Christian faith.
