本文主要在探討1999年至2009年間，我國對大陸投資件數、金額及比重較大的六種製造業產業，包括紡織業、石油及煤製品製造業、塑膠製品製造業、基本金屬製造業、機械設備製造業、與電機及電子產業之對外直接投資對該產業之主管及監督人員、事務工作人員、工程師及專業人員、技術員及助理專業人員、技術工及設備操作工、與非技術工及體力工等六種不同類型勞動僱用的影響。因同時考慮時間序列資料與橫斷面資料，所以本文採用追蹤資料進行迴歸估計。
經固定效果模型之實證結果發現，我國製造業在中國大陸地區之投資，對工程師及專業人員、技術員及助理專業人員、與技術工及設備操作工等三類勞動的僱用，都有顯著正相關的影響；然而對主管及監督人員、事務工作人員、與非技術工及體力工等三類勞動的僱用，則有顯著負相關的影響。至於我國製造業對中國大陸以外地區投資，對主管及監督人員、事務工作人員、技術員及助理專業人員、與非技術工及體力工等四類勞動的僱用，都有顯著負相關的影響。 就我國製造業對外直接投資而言，對技術工及設備操作工的僱用，增加最多；但對非技術工及體力工的僱用、事務工作人員與主管及監督人員的僱用，則減少最多。因此，本文認為，對於如何降低非技術員工失業的政府政策，在未來應該更加被重視。

Considering time series data and cross-section data, a fixed effects model is adopted to estimate the impacts on employment from the foreign direct investment by the six most outward invested Taiwan manufacturing industries, including textiles mills, petroleum and coal products, plastic products, basic metal, machinery and equipment, computers, electronic and optical products, during the period from 1999 to 2009. There are six different types of labor employment are considered: executives and supervisors, clerks, engineers and professionals, technicians and assistant professionals, mechanics and equipment operators, along with non-skilled workers and laborers.
The empirical results suggested that the investment from Taiwan manufacturing industries in China has generated significant positive impacts on three categories of labor employment, including engineers and professionals, technicians and assistant professionals, clerks, as well as mechanics and equipment operators, while as with significant negative impacts on executives and supervisors along with workers and laborers. Meanwhile, it is also found that the outward investment from Taiwan manufacturing industries except China, has significant negative impacts on labor employment of clerks, executives and supervisors, technicians and assistant professionals along with non-skilled workers and laborers.Overall, the estimated results found the outward foreign investment from Taiwan manufacturing industries benefits most to the employment of the category of mechanics and equipment operators; while hurts most to that of non-skilled workers and laborers, clerks, executives and supervisors. Hence, governmental policies to reduce the unemployment of the category of non-skilled workers should be further emphasized.
