This study aims to find out the relationship among social network, life stress and self-injury of junior high school students. There are two main purposes in this study, including:(1)to understand the present situation of the social network, life stress and self-injury of junior high school students and(2)to analyze the impact of life stress and social network on adolescent self-injury.
This sample consisted of 760 junior high school students from nine districts in Tainan City by a stratified sampling method. Firstly, the cohesion and centrality of social network were counted by UCINET 6. Secondly, the collected data were analyzed by a set of statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and nested regression models.
The major findings were that: (1) Adolescents’ self-injury was related to life stress. (2) The two indicators of class cohesion and centrality had no impact on self-injury. (3) After considering the effect of social network into consideration, the relationship between life stress and self-injury was not changed. Based on the research findings, some suggestions were provided in the study.
