A CEO with an extroverted personality excels in building relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside the company. They are effective communicators, capable of fostering trust and cooperation. Their adventurous spirit and openness to new ideas drive them to proactively seek market opportunities and expand business ventures. This study explores how a CEO's extroverted personality influences the execution of diversification decisions, affecting the company's operational performance. The primary focus is to investigate the impact of CEO extroversion on corporate diversification. The study examines Standard & Poor's 1500 companies from 2000 to 2018. Data on CEO extroversion come from Harrison et al. (2019), who used machine learning algorithms to measure CEO personality traits. They analyzed executives' speech transcripts from S&P companies, vectorized the text, built training models, and predicted personality traits to quantify and validate the five major personality traits of executives. The study found that CEOs with higher extroversion traits significantly influence the company's diversification level. There is a notable positive correlation between extroverted CEOs and the degree of corporate diversification. Additionally, the impact varies with age, as younger extroverted CEOs have a greater influence on corporate diversification compared to their older counterparts.
