Natural environments can create positive physiological and psychological reactions in the human body, achieving restorative effects. However, people are used to spending the majority of their time in modernized cities and buildings without ever noticing the benefits of nature. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of elements of nature in the environment (“sun,” “plants,” and “water”) and environmental properties (such as “openness”) on human body restoration. More specifically, what are the different types of restorative perceptions they create that can bring about restorative effects? Apart from exploring the restorative elements of nature, the author arranged them in different permutations and combinations to generate 10 “images of natural environment.” In total, 424 NCKU students participated in the survey, and 398 valid responses were recovered. Finally, the conjoint analysis technique was used to determine the importance of elements and properties of nature in environmental restorative perception and restorative effects. Results showed that “sun” was the most important of the four factors, followed by “plants,” “openness,” and “water.” In addition, the 10th image of natural environment was the most popular among the participants.
