This study considers the supplier selection and distribution decision in a three-echelon supply chain, which includes multiple suppliers, one manufacturer and multiple retailers. The supply chain operates to meet a price-sensitive random demand of a short-life-cycle product. In the supply chain, the manufacturer orders parts from a number of suppliers. It then determines which suppliers to order from and how much to order in order to minimize its ordering cost according to the suppliers' discount schedules. After the manufacturer obtains the materials from suppliers, it converts them into products and sells the products to the retailers. The manufacturer needs to determine the selling price and the production quantity in order to maximize its profit. After receiving the products from the manufacturer, the retailers sell the products to customers. The retailers face different markets, each with price-sensitive random demand. The objectives of this thesis are to maximize the joint profit of the manufacturer and the retailers in the presence of coordination, optimize each individual profit in the absence of coordination, compare the performance of the optimal policies with and without coordination, and nalyze the parameters effect.
