本研究目的為研究固態硬碟的效能與壽命來幫助使用者來選擇固態硬碟。本研究分兩部分,第一部分透過循序讀取/寫入和隨機讀取寫入,以量測固態硬碟的真實效能並:廠商提供的資料比較;並透過大檔案的循序寫入,來推算單層式儲存技術(Single Layer Cell, SLC)之快閃記憶體做為快取使用(cache)之記憶體大小,並實驗出三層式儲存技術(Triple Layer Cell, TLC) 固態硬碟的真實效能。第二部分,使用SMART 監測工具來查看固態硬碟是否有問題,並推估固態硬碟的目前壽命。實驗中量測價格很接近的五個廠牌的固態硬碟,並對五種固態硬碟進行排序。本論文提供之方法可提供使用者在選購或使用中的情況下,了解固態硬碟真實效能和使用情況。
This study is to investigate the performance and lifespan of solid-state drives (SSDs) in order to assist users in making informed decisions when selecting SSDs. This research is divided into two parts. In the first part, the performance of each candidate SSD is evaluated through sequential read/write and random read/write tests. The goal is to compare this actual performance with the data provided by its manufacturer. Additionally, by conducting large-file sequential writes, the Single Level Cell (SLC) cache size is estimated, and the performance of Triple Layer Cell (TLC) SSD is determined. In the second part, SMART monitoring tools for SSDs are employed to inspect whether the SSD have any issues and to estimate its current lifespan. Five SSDs of the same price range were tested, and a ranking of these SSDs is established. This ranking would assist users in making better choices when selecting a solid-state drive.
The methods presented in this research offer users a guidance on how to choose a more suitable SSD, particularly emphasizing the process of selecting the most appropriate SSD of the same storage capacity.
