佳平部落(kaviyangan)在日治時期強制遷村及戰後改宗天主教的歷史脈絡下,部落文化改變甚異。然而,近年佳平文化復振運動頻繁,筆者認為這些行動是再造與延續排灣族家屋社會的重要表徵。本文欲探討佳平當代社群持續復返祖居廢棄的舊社家屋的原因,分析此現象是否反映家屋在家屋社會中的神聖性、延續性及身分認同功能。發現佳平族人透過物質文化及空間表現出來,從物、家屋及舊社空間地景型塑家屋社會制度。
考古學作為理解過去的工具,其產生的知識構成當代歷史和文化遺產的一部分。基於原住民考古學強調去殖民化並為邊緣社群發聲的理念,本文採取與當地部落協作的方式進行。藉由考古記憶(Archaeologies of memory)的原住民考古學視角,觀察佳平如何重新建構、延續和維護家屋社會,不僅強化族群內部的文化認同,同時對外宣稱部落祖先遺產的合法性,逐漸打破殖民僵局。此舉豐富考古學對家屋社會的理解,並促進田野方法的轉變。
The culture of kaviyangan community changed significantly due to forced relocation during the Japanese colonial period and conversion to Catholicism after World War II. The author believes that the recent cultural revitalization movement in kaviyangan is an important manifestation of recreating and continuing the house society of the Paiwan people. This thesis aims to explore whether the reasons for kaviyangan's contemporary community’s return and restore abandoned ancestral houses in the old settlement reflect the sacredness, continuity, and identity functions of houses in a house society. It is found that the kaviyangan people shape their house society system through artifacts, houses, and the spatial landscape of the old settlement.
Additionally, based on the concepts of indigenous archaeology emphasizing decolonization and empowering the marginalized communities, this thesis adopts a collaborative approach to engage with the kaviyangan community. It is the process through which the kaviyangan reconstructs, continues, and maintains its house society that the community articulate their own selective past. This not only strengthens cultural identity within the ethnic group but also claims the legitimacy of the community 's ancestral heritage, gradually breaking the colonial bondage. This participatory observation experience enriches archaeological understanding of house societies and promotes changes in fieldwork methods.
