本研究以”三度空間邊坡穩定分析法”為基礎,利用”蒙地卡羅”(Monte Carlo simulation)導入土壤剪力強度在邊坡中的變異性及”可信度”的觀念,將一向假設過多及破壞原因複雜的邊坡穩定分析更客觀地去評估邊坡的安全性,而不像傳統邊坡穩定分析般單單以安全係數一值來表現邊坡的安全性。
本研究更打破以往三度空間邊坡穩定分析中單一土柱用單一剪力強度參數加以分析的屏障,將土柱更細分成為空間中的立方體(Cubics),配合蒙地卡羅的方法將整體土堤中的剪力強度模擬成正規分佈(Normal distribution),藉此將現地的土壤變異狀況表現出來。
在破壞面大小與破壞發生位置為隨機,並考慮土壤剪力強度的變異性的狀況下,藉由可信度的觀念將2D破壞與3D破壞做一破壞機率的比較,導正傳統工程師認為2D分析較為保守(on the safe side)的觀念,即自然界中3D破壞較常發生的現象在本研究中確實地展現出來。
