This study examines how transracial Asian adoptees construct and reconstruct identity within digital cultural environments, focusing on storytelling as a process shaped by structural conditions and platform-mediated visibility. It addresses the problem that adoptee identities are often fragmented or inconsistently represented in dominant cultural and digital narratives, limiting coherent self-representation and narrative agency.

A qualitative narrative research design is used, combining survey data, semi-structured interviews, and thematic analysis. Findings show that identity construction is shaped by three dynamics: ongoing negotiation across cultural contexts, structural conditions influencing access to heritage and belonging, and storytelling as agency enabling selective visibility and self-representation in digital spaces.

Based on these findings, the study proposes the Inclusive Narrative Reconstruction Framework (INRF), which explains how identity is continuously reconstructed through storytelling under structural constraints. The framework integrates identity negotiation, structural conditions, and narrative agency to conceptualize identity as an ongoing process rather than a fixed state.

The study contributes to narrative identity and digital storytelling research by framing adoptee storytelling as relational and strategic meaning-making. It also highlights how digital platforms simultaneously enable expression and impose constraints on identity representation.

The findings suggest the need for more flexible and participatory digital storytelling environments that support multiplicity, ambiguity, and user-controlled identity representation.
