公共開放空間是都市規劃長期關注的核心議題,研究從多面向空間品質、地方認同、公共空間使用經驗及社會互動等面向探討其規劃成效與評估基礎。近年來環境心理學與其相關領域研究指出,公共空間除了提供活動與社會互動功能外,亦具有促進心理恢復與身心健康的潛力,其中知覺恢復性漸漸成為評估公共空間效益的重要指標,並已廣泛運用於自然環境評估,而對於都市建成環境上仍待討論。另一方面,近年來舊城區都市再生政策持續推動下,公共開放空間規劃與設計成為提升環境品質、居民福祉與地方認同重要策略,使其作為探討恢復效益及其形成機制的重要的契機。
本研究旨在探討都市公共開放空間系統之使用者知覺恢復性與其影響因素,並以臺中市舊城區之公共開放空間系統為實證場域,研究目的有三:一為量測都市公共開放空間系統之品質;二為評估都市公共開放空間系統之知覺恢復性;三為探討公共空間品質、地方連結與使用者特性對知覺恢復性之影響關係。研究設計上,透過問卷調查輔以非正式訪談,以具備該區使用經驗之使用者為研究對象,評估其公共空間體驗品質、地方連結與知覺恢復性,並使用單因子變異數分析、獨立樣本t檢定分析使用者特性與使用狀況對知覺恢復性之差異,最後以多元線性迴歸分析與中介分析探討公共空間品質與地方連結對知覺恢復性之影響關係。
研究結果顯示,臺中市舊城區公共空間體驗品質之多樣性與活力、形象與喜好程度構面評價較高,反映場域具備多元文化、歷史文化與建築特色之優勢,惟舒適性與包容性構面則相對匱乏;地方連結方面,使用者具備高度熟悉感而地方依賴程度低的情況,顯示此地因商圈沒落而削弱了日常機能不可替代性;知覺恢復性方面,整體達中等以上水準,但受限於交通樞紐之嘈雜環境,遠離性構面之感知最為薄弱。在影響因素方面,公共空間體驗品質與地方連結均對知覺恢復性具顯著正向影響,當兩者同時納入模型時具高度解釋力(R²=.80),並透過中介效果模型檢驗顯示地方連結在實質環境品質影響知覺恢復性的過程中具有部分中介關係。
本研究證實都市公共開放空間系統同樣具有提供知覺恢復性之潛力,其恢復性感知並非單由空間物理環境決定,而是公共空間體驗品質與地方連結共同作用之結果。未來舊城區公共空間再生除持續提升空間品質外,亦應兼顧地方特色塑造、地方連結建立與使用經驗累積,以提升公共開放空間之恢復性效益,並回應都市使用者之心理健康與生活福祉需求。
Urban public open spaces are an important concern in urban planning. While previous studies have focused on spatial quality, place identity, user experience, and social interaction, recent environmental psychology research suggests that public spaces may also promote psychological restoration. However, perceived restorativeness has been more widely examined in natural environments than in urban built environments. Meanwhile, public open space planning has become an important strategy for old-town regeneration, providing an opportunity to examine restorative benefits in urban settings. This study investigates users' perceived restorativeness within the public open space system of Downtown Taichung through three objectives: measuring spatial quality, evaluating perceived restorativeness, and examining how spatial quality, place bonding, and user characteristics influence perceived restorativeness. Using questionnaire surveys supplemented by informal interviews, data were analyzed via ANOVA, independent samples t-tests, and multiple linear regression, followed by mediation analysis.. Results show that diversity and vitality and image and preference received relatively high ratings, while comfort and inclusivity were weaker. Users reported high place familiarity but low place dependence. Overall perceived restorativeness was above average, although being away was the weakest dimension due to transportation-related noise. Public space experiential quality and place bonding positively predicted perceived restorativeness, with the final model explaining 80% of the variance (R²=.80). Mediation analysis further indicated that place bonding partially mediated the relationship between spatial quality and perceived restorativeness. These findings confirm that perceived restorativeness is jointly shaped by spatial quality and place bonding rather than physical environment alone; future old-town regeneration should therefore continue improving spatial quality while also fostering local character, place bonding, and accumulated user experience.
