According to the developed countries’ experiences, the insightful entrepreneur could create huge wealth in short term. However, empirical research shows that new business has high fail rate. It caused by improper business processes. Some countries set up incubators to solve the problem. In Taiwan, the incubation business is initial and the relative literatures focus on incubator itself. Therefore, this study focuses on the needs of new business to refine incubator values.
We use three steps to construct this study. First, based on literature review, we build up the framework. Second, we use case study to confirm what criteria for new business to choose an incubator. Finally, we use analytic hierarchy process (AHP) questionnaire to collect the priority of the criteria. All of the results can offer the reference for relative incubation institutions, and promote the economic growth in future.
The conclusions are: (1) When new business choose an incubator to tenant, their main criteria are considerations of efficiency and location, and acquirement of human resources, financial resources, information and skill resources, management ability, and business network. (2) Based on above criteria, the priorities are acquirement of information and skill resources, efficiency, and acquirement of business network. When choosing incubators, the research institutions incubator, general universities incubator, and technical universities incubator are popular for new business. (3) When new business are divided to high-tech and traditional groups, the differences between groups are high-tech business emphasize on acquirement of financial resources and traditional business emphasize on acquirement of business network. In choosing types of incubators, there are not significant differences between groups. (4) When new business are divided to tenant and un-tenant groups, there are not significant differences between two groups in considering criteria and choosing an incubator.
