台灣鯛魚在台灣養殖產業中，不論產量或出口量，已成為台灣第一大養殖出口魚類。2004年更被農委會列為外銷四大旗艦產品之唯一漁產品，在出口市場上，不可避免的，需面臨中國大陸及東南亞國家的競爭，而中國大陸與東南亞國家挾其成本低廉的競爭優勢，使台灣鯛魚出口面對衝擊。本研究探討面對目前的台灣鯛魚產業困境，如何提升養殖技術及生產效能，進而提升台灣鯛魚產業在國際上之競爭力。
本研究探討台灣鯛魚產業面臨中國大陸及東南亞新興國家低廉成本競爭優勢下，以行政院農業委員會漁業署中華民國八十三年至九十七年台灣地區漁家經濟調查報告為主，搜集台灣鯛魚養殖戶，單位面積總成本、產量、產值，與投入成本魚苗、飼料與肥料費、水產物藥品費、保險費、其他耗材及魚具費、塭池整備費及魚貨運輸費、水電油料費與設備耗材修理費、家工工資、雇工工資及臨時工資、土地租金及借款利息等樣本資料。進行迴歸分析，以了解生產成本變數與總成本、產量、產值之間影響。
依據台灣地區漁家經濟調查報告分析樣本養殖戶，分析其面臨困境，並提建議方案，以解決台灣鯛魚產銷之困境。

As noted from studies in recent years, Taiwan tilapia has become one of the largest export farmed fishes in Taiwan’s agriculture industry. Council of Agriculture report in 2004 also indicated that tilapia has been listed as the sole fisheries product among the four flagship agriculture in export markets. However, a heavy competition of low-cost competitive advantage form China and Southeast Asian countries by far has endangered Taiwan’s tilapia industry. As a result, this study would like to discuss current dilemma of Taiwan’s tilapia industry, and try to find a way of how to improve farming techniques, production efficiency in order to enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan’s tilapia industry in the global market.
Based on Taiwan fisherman economic survey from 1994 to 2008 conducted by the Fisheries Agency of Council of Agriculture of Taiwan, the study aimed to investigate data: the production and yield per unit area, input costs of fry cost, fodder and fertilizer, medicine expenses, labour insurance, other consumable and fishing equipments, pond maintenance and transportation, utilities and equipment maintenance, home labour, labour and temporary worker, land rent and interest on the samples of Taiwan tilapia fishing farmers. The study is then conducted of regression analysis so as to clarify the cost of production, volume and value of production with respect to a number of explanatory variables. As learned from the substantiation of the fish farmer samples, current difficulties of fish farmers were categorized and analyzed. Further, some possible solutions are provided to solve the problem of Taiwan tilapia fisherman production and marketing obstacles.
