本研究的目標在於通過探討都市包容性，建立一套觀察公共空間及設計的方法論。從空間的角度追溯「空間生產」中的關係變化，公共空間中不同使用者的狀態和空間條件之間互相影響，因此空間的開放性與公共性可謂都市和空間發展中影響社會現象的重要因素。
在臺灣，幾乎每個核心城市都有某特定區域在空間的使用上有「第三空間」的現象，因使用者中的一些特殊族群造成領域的劃分，顯現在公共空間中，從而產生社會層面的議題，都市該如何探討公共空間 ? 其中，特殊群體例如遊民、移工，在劃分領域時與臺灣居民之間產生衝突及相互的斥力，是否影響了整個都市的公共空間狀態 ? 本案以臺中火車站作為前期研究對象，其因鐵路高架化，地面層開放及新車站半戶外設計型態，大量半戶外公共空間於都市已然是重要公共節點，而真實現況則是大部分區域被遊民、移工、學生等長時間佔據，造成區塊邊緣化，導致臺中車站的公共性失去該有的公共品質，造成空間失序的狀況，為典型因社會現象影響空間運作之案例。
本論文試圖重新思考當代「空間設計策略」，從公共空間行為模式和空間結構分別討論社會性與空間性的分析方法，結合空間型構法（Space Syntax）、模式語言(Pattern Language)建立的評估系統來閱讀和量化空間中的"公共性"、"開放性"的因素，從而判讀空間的包容性。後期設計操作基於研究結果，以臺南文創園區作為實驗基地，以能夠回應社會議題的空間元素整合前期建築設計的策略，形成一套以「包容性城市」為基礎的設計邏輯。

This study first clarifies the core requirements of “inclusivity” at a theoretical level and then proposes an actionable definitional framework. It then moves into methodological development, exploring how to embed this abstract concept into concrete design processes. The research focuses on two key theoretical approaches—Space Syntax and Pattern Language—to quantify spatial accessibility and visibility, while integrating user-behavior analysis. Together, they form a bottom-up (behavior to spatial structure) typological methodology.
