The objective of this research is to determine the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on the physical fitness, anaerobic power, and body composition of military cadets. In the duration of four weeks, 37 college-aged (20 ± 1.2 years) participants completed workout routines, consisting of either 90 minutes of regular physical training (control group) or 36 minutes of HIIT (experiment group), three times a week. Several pre- and post-intervention fitness variables were compared. The pre-training (week 0) and post-training (week 5) outcome variables including body composition, military physical fitness test and Wingate Anaerobic Test (WAnT) using CYCLUS 2 were compared. After conducting one-way analysis of variance using the pre-training results as the covariance, the experiment group exhibited greater improvement than the control group with statistical significance (p < 0.05). This research offers scientific results for the armed forces when they are in an urgent need of maintaining or improving basic physical capabilities and combat readiness training.
