With the widespread use of social media and digital communication technologies, adolescents’ social interactions have increasingly extended into digital environments. This study examined the relationships among self-worth, fear of missing out (FoMO), and subjective well-being among junior high school students in Taiwan and tested whether FoMO moderated the relationship between self-worth and subjective well-being. Secondary data from the first wave of the Taiwan i-Generation Panel Study (TIGPS) were analyzed. The final sample consisted of 4,469 junior high school students, with gender included as a control variable. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, hierarchical moderated regression analysis, and simple slope analysis were conducted. Results showed that self-worth positively predicted subjective well-being, whereas FoMO negatively predicted subjective well-being. The interaction between self-worth and FoMO was also significant, indicating that the positive relationship between self-worth and subjective well-being became weaker as FoMO increased. These findings suggest that adolescents’ subjective well-being is associated with both self-evaluation and digital social experiences.
