This study attempts to investigate the relationship between the principal’s
entrepreneurship and faculty’s organization citizenship behavior in school. In
addition, the relationship between principal’s entrepreneurship and leadership style,
including transformational and transactional leadership, as well as the influence of
leadership on organization citizenship behavior were considered. The junior high
schools in Taiwan were selected as the sample, and the principal and faculties were
the respondents of this study. 840 questionnaires were mailed to each school which
was selected. 527 valid questionnaires contained 89 principals and 438 faculties in
89 schools. The respondent rate was 62.74 %. Factor analysis, t-test, canonical
analysis, and regression analysis were conducted. The empirical results were as
follows:
1. In terms of the entrepreneurship, including autonomy, risk taking,
innovativeness, and competitive aggressiveness, and leadership styles, the
principals’ self evaluations were significantly higher than faculties’
perceptions.
2. The entrepreneurship had significant influence on transformational and
transactional leadership styles. Specifically, autonomy, innovativeness,
proactive, and competitive aggressiveness were significantly and
positively related to transformational and transactional leadership.
However, the risk taking has significant negative influence on leadership
styles.
3. The entrepreneurship was significantly related to organization citizenship
behavior. Among others, the competitive aggressiveness had the most
influence on the organization citizenship behavior, whereas the risk taking
has the less influences on the organization citizenship behavior.
4. The transformational leadership had positive effects on each dimension of
5. the organization citizenship behavior. The transactional leadership had
positive effects on altruism, sportsmanship, generalized compliance, and
civic virtue; however, it had no significant effect on courtesy.
iv
6. The core self-evaluation had moderating effects on the interrelationships
among autonomy, innovativeness, proactive, competitive aggressiveness,
and organization citizenship behavior, except for risk taking. The core
self-evaluation also had moderating effects on the relationships between
leadership styles and organization citizenship behavior.
