The evolution of digital art has exerted a profound influence on traditional and cultural elements, leading to the global emergence of the fusion of digital art and cultural heritage, including in Hanoi, Vietnam. Digital art, as an innovative form of artistic expression, has introduced a new phenomenon with opportunities for promoting cultural identity. In the 2020s, various digital art shows bring novel experiences to visitors through modern technological installations, allowing them to interactively immerse themselves in the visual and auditory aspects of cultural narratives. This trend caters to the demand for experiential, interactive, and aesthetically engaging encounters at heritage sites, enabling visitors to connect with the stories and significance of these locations on a deeper level. Digital art plays a vital role in enhancing audiences’ understanding of cultural identity. Offering interactive and immersive experiences fosters a greater engagement with heritage, leading to a more profound appreciation of these sites' historical and cultural values. This ensures that cultural identity remains vibrant and relevant to contemporary audiences. Consequently, this phenomenon has gained importance not only locally but also on a global scale, making it an increasingly relevant topic.
This research endeavors to revitalize cultural identity by integrating digital art within heritage spaces. Taking the Temple of Literature Night Tour, titled “The Quintessence of Education” in Hanoi, Vietnam, as a case study, this study will investigate how digital art enhances the storytelling of tangible cultural heritage and reinforces cultural identity. Through literature reviews on the importance of promoting and strengthening cultural identity, this research emphasizes the role of artistic approaches in reshaping how individuals engage with cultural heritage. The study will use an online survey to gather initial data, followed by semi-structured interviews and participant observations during both daytime visits and night tours. This approach aims to evaluate how digital art enhances cultural understanding and enriches the visitor’s experience. By combining these methods, the study will bridge traditional heritage with immersive technologies, highlighting digital art's role in appreciating cultural identity and redefining heritage experiences for contemporary audiences.
