In order to satisfy consumers and take advantage of used products in the market, many manufacturers start to remanufacture. But there are a lot of problems when recycling used products. This thesis therefore adds a leasing strategy for manufacturers to reduce the uncertainty of recycled products.
This research models the manufacturer’s three strategies. Model 1 considers the manufacturer using the selling and leasing strategies to launch products in a market, as called mixed strategy. Models 2 & 3 are the degenerated versions of model 1. The manufacturer uses the pure selling strategy in model 2 and the pure leasing strategy in model 3.
The numerical and sensitivity analysis found that when the manufacturer is profit-oriented, the pure selling strategy is the best strategy for the manufacturer. On the other hand, if the manufacturer is market-oriented, the mixed strategy is the optimal strategy.
