This study examines the influence of CEO extraversion on firm strategic distinctiveness. Using a sample of U.S. Standard & Poor's 500 companies from 2000 to 2018, regression analysis is conducted based on the deviation level between corporate strategic choices and industry average strategy patterns, as utilized by Geletkanycz and Hambrick (1997) and Tang et al. (2011). Empirical results indicate that the higher the CEO's extraversion personality trait, the greater the firm's strategic distinctiveness. Furthermore, this study further categorizes the sample by CEO age and tenure, revealing that the impact of CEO extraversion on firm strategic distinctiveness is more pronounced among younger CEOs compared to their older counterparts. Moreover, the study also reveals that over time, the influence of CEO extraversion on strategy becomes more significant.
