  • 回顧先前的球卡研究,種族是否影響成交價格,往往因樣本、擷取卡價之時間不同,難以產生一致性的結果,且先行研究多針對大聯盟或退役選手進行卡價分析,缺少對小聯盟新秀的卡價研究。本研究分析415位入選小聯盟各隊農場排名前30的選手之新人簽名卡,並以迴歸分析探討種族、年紀、球員表現、新秀排名、球隊市場與球員新人卡價之關係。再進行8位球卡消費者的質性訪談,以訪談資料輔助解釋量化研究之結果。量化結果顯示,種族無法顯著影響卡價,反觀球員年紀、新秀排名與球探評價,對卡價具顯著影響。訪談資料補充,大聯盟非白人明星選手的表現,使市場不再獨尊白人球員,而球員年紀越輕,增添受訪者對球員開發空間的想像,至於新秀排名與球探評價形同對球員潛力的背書。研究結果說明現今小聯盟球員的球卡交易,消費者歧視性消費式微,交易市場重視球員關乎人力資本論的發展,球員在年紀、新秀排名與球探評價的優勢,說服消費者願意以更高額的價格購入其新人簽名卡。

    This study focuses on the Bowman series, the most representative product line of rookie baseball cards, to examine price variations in minor league rookie cards. A regression analysis was conducted using variables such as player race, prospect ranking, performance metrics, age, team affiliation, and secondary market transaction prices to identify the factors influencing card value. In addition, qualitative interviews were carried out to explore how card collectors perceive various indicators and how these perceptions shape their purchasing decisions. The quantitative findings reveal that prospect ranking, hitters age and home run totals significantly affect card prices. The qualitative interviews reveal that consumers regard prospect rankings as a shortcut to accessing information about minor league players and observe that, since the emergence of Shohei Ohtani, the market no longer privileges white players alone. In other words, in today’s trading card market, consumers place greater emphasis on player age as a measure of human capital value, leading to a gradual decline in discriminatory consumption.
