With advancements in medical technology, the aging population is rapidly increasing globally. Previous studies have shown that place attachment (PA) is positively associated with well-being, playing a significant role in aging in place and social participation. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently emphasized creating comfortable, safe, and supportive living environments to enhance older adults' function and potential. However, existing research tends to focus more on policy implementation and less on exploring older adults' subjective perceptions and needs regarding age-friendly environments. This study aimed to understand their age-friendly perceptions and to investigate the relationships among age-friendly perceptions, PA, and well-being. Furthermore, the study sought to identify significant predictors of well-being. This cross-sectional study surveyed 376 community-dwelling older adults aged 65 and above in Tainan City. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0, employing statistical methods such as t-tests, one-way ANOVA, multiple regression, and mediation analysis. The study results indicate that age-friendly perceptions, place attachment, and well-being all show significant positive correlations. Health status, mobility, social support, and place attachment were identified as important predictors of older adults' well-being. Additionally, place attachment was found to mediate the relationship between age-friendly perceptions and well-being. Based on a person-environment interaction perspective, this study explores the connections among age-friendly perceptions, place attachment, and well-being. This research suggests that future environmental planning should incorporate older adults' perspectives to promote aging-in-place policies.
