Peritoneal dialysis is the treatment for many patients with chronic kidney disease. However, there are some issues to be addressed and improved: (1) Patients or their families need to fill the paper medical records after treatments, (2) Paper medical records are not convenient for caregivers to manage and to have a long-term follow up, (3) Due to the lack of caregivers’ direct caring, patients or their families need to pay more attention to the physical health of patients.
Therefore, the concept of Internet of Things is introduced to develop an HTML5 web-based data collection system for peritoneal dialysis patients and caregivers. To reduce the burden of patients, and help caregivers to track and manage patients’ medical records, the existing wireless blood pressure meter, the pulse meter, the wireless scale, and the specifically designed wireless CAPD dialysate weight sensor were selected because they had network capability. In addition to achieving the purpose of remote care, health education on the web page is provided and LINE APP is developed to help patients and caregivers to communicate with each other.
