場所精神（Spirit of Place）係指在既有物理環境、文化特徵以及人類活動交互影響下，場所發展出屬於自己的特質，並被人類賦予意義，是一非永恆不變的概念，會受到人類在該場域下的活動、不同使用者的使用經驗、感知而有所不同，並被認為是都市空間永續發展與文化再生的重要基礎。然當前多數以維護場所精神為目標的都市再生實踐多強調物理環境改造，對於空間使用者的感知與互動經驗則較少著墨。為釐清場所精神形成與傳遞過程中的關鍵因素，本研究選擇臺南市中西區一處歷經都市環境改造、兼具文化歷史意涵之核心街廓作為實證場域，透過問卷調查、參與觀察、關鍵角色深度訪談的方法，探討使用者使用經驗、社會角色與空間互動差異對場所精神感知的影響以及現況場域精神得以被具體實踐的關鍵因素。
研究顯示，「在地文化」為場所精神四維度核心，有形資產的保存與整體氛圍的打造將左右人對場域意義的判斷；又提升對場域連結、感知深化並非單一因素－環境舒適度、可持續接近的場所特性，讓人得以穩定且中度頻率的場所互動，增強對於地方的情感認同；規律的到訪催生人際互動，最終沉澱為地方依附與共同記憶。而實證場域也因其場內多樣化的都市機能與文化資產的再利用，有效降低了使用者與文化之間的距離，弱化歷史環境與社區間的隔閡，深化使用者對地方文化的連結。實證場域中的正式、非正式活動亦顯示，兩者間的併續對於場所精神的延續與再生帶來正面效果－日常活動將意義帶入身體記憶，增長人對環境的熟悉度；無形文化慶典、儀式、教育等制度活動的介入，將抽象價值轉譯為實際參與、可操作之體驗，既加深參與者的感知強度也擴大精神傳遞網絡。此機制亦反應在不同身分角色的感知差異－與場域維持穩定互動且在其身分下與場域有特殊互動關係之教師、家長、學生，對場所感知程度高於其他使用者；角色轉變也帶來對場域不同意義的詮釋面向與深度。具體而言，研究場域現有的多元活動，可視為場所精神具體的實踐樣態。當活動在穩定的時空結構下完成在地化，得轉化為屬於地方的故事與集體記憶。這種實踐過程不僅傳遞了場域本質，更讓其精神在日常使用中不斷被疊加與豐富，驅動場所精神持續再生。
綜合而言，場所精神的建構與實踐不僅取決於物理意象的形塑，也仰賴人與場域互動方式，作為支撐地方記憶的編織。面對都市再發展課題，宜在脈絡基礎上營造符合地方特色且具環境品質之舒適場域，同時包容多元活動並具治理流程，將使用者角色與空間經驗納入設計與評估，使活動得以沉澱為地方記憶，進而將理解轉為認同，再把認同轉為再生，實現文化與環境共融的永續城市願景。

This research explores the practice of the "Spirit of Place" (Genius Loci) within the urban public spaces of the Jhongyi Elementary School and Tainan Confucian Temple following spatial transformation. Redefining the Spirit of Place as a dynamic interplay between physical environments, cultural attributes, and human activities, the study decomposes the concept into four dimensions: physical environment, historical culture, social interaction, and psychological perception. Through a mixed-methods approach involving surveys, participant observation, and in-depth interviews, the study investigates users' perceptual states and the factors influencing perceptual divergence among different groups. The findings identify " historical culture " as the core dimension, while environmental comfort and accessibility provide the essential foundation for stable interaction and emotional identification. Furthermore, the diverse activities within the site manifest as concrete "practices" of the Spirit of Place. Under the coexistence of formal and informal activities, users internalize physical and cultural materials into psychological perceptions through spatial engagement. This mechanism is particularly pronounced among key stakeholders such as teachers and students; through stable spatial-temporal practices, daily routines are transformed into profound local narratives and collective memories, driving the continuous regeneration of the Spirit of Place. The study suggests that for future urban regeneration in historical environments, incorporating user roles and spatial experiences is essential for achieving a sustainable synthesis of culture and environment.
