Short-life-cycle products are characterized with hard-and-fast decision of pro-
curement, demand uncertainty, a short selling season and the long manufacturing lead
time. In light of maximizing the expected pro¯t of supply chain members, a newsboy
model is often used to resolve the retailer's decision problem. Nevertheless, previous studies assume symmetric market information between the retailer and the supplier.
Therefore, this thesis considers a two-stage supply chain with one supplier and
one retailer, focuses on short-life goods restricted to sell in the current selling season,
and forms a newsboy model with asymmetric market information. By means of ap-
plying the polices of quantity discount, return and information sharing, our objective
is to determine the optimal decisions of the supply chain members and maximize the
channel pro¯ts to achieve channel coordination.
